The Matthew Wright Foundation was created to keep Matthew's memory alive, to educate on the importance of organ donation, to support The Humane Society, and ultimately to help kids who cannot afford to go to college.
Matthew Wright was a kind and gentle young man, with lots of potential. He had a good soul, and had decided that he was going to donate his organs if something tragic were to ever happen to him. Matthew had a conversation with his parents about his wishes to be an organ donor just a few short weeks before the accident that took his life. He let them know that when he went to get his driver’s license, he had checked YES to be an organ donor.
Matthew was a huge supporter of The Humane Society. It was there that he adopted his dog, and best friend, Sprite. It was important to Matthew that he adopt, he always commented on how many dogs were in need of a home. Matthew loved animals, and the week before he passed away, he was trying to talk his mother, Ann, into getting another dog.
The Matthew Wright Foundation has established a college scholarship in Matthew’s name. Even though he was registered and ready to go, Matthew was taken from us before getting the chance to attend college. It is the Matthew Wright Foundation’s mission to ensure that those kids who could not otherwise afford to attend college receive the support that they need to accomplish their college dreams.
